Our Roman glass jewelry from Israel pairs ancient archaeological glass with handmade Yemenite silver filigree. Each piece in this collection holds a fragment of authentic ancient glass, excavated from licensed sites across Israel. Buried for approximately two thousand years, the glass developed its distinctive iridescent patina through centuries of contact with mineral-rich soil. Set in hand-wrought 925 sterling silver, every Roman glass piece is genuinely one-of-a-kind.
What makes ancient Israeli glass jewelry so unusual is the combination of natural and human history. The original glass was crafted between the first and fourth centuries CE, during Roman rule of the region. Over time, glass vessels broke and were buried, and the chemical interaction between glass and soil produced an iridescent rainbow patina that no modern process can replicate. Each fragment we set is unique in color, shape, and weight.
The silver work that frames each Roman glass piece comes from our family workshop, founded by Moshe Ben David in 1927. Seven generations later, his grandson Rami continues the craft from our Ness Tziona studio in Israel, hand-soldering filigree wires around each fragment of glass. Every Roman glass piece in our collection includes a certificate of authenticity confirming its archaeological origin.
Our Roman glass jewelry collection includes pendants, rings, earrings, and bracelets. To explore the broader work, browse our silver filigree rings or our handmade silver pendants.
